Philippi Township as viewed from the gates of Noluthando. This is actually a misleading photo because of the one nice house in the foreground. Most of the townships have paved roads but this one is in much better condition than most, and they are just a hodge-podge of materials and colors, qualities of construction vary from shack to shack and you never know who you'll see coming round the bend.

Noluthando Creche Celebration

These photos are from a celebration at the Noluthando Creche of the new construction that SAEP has just finished in their facility. They have a new building (the red one) and a new toilet block (which is by far the most exciting thing for them!). A Creche is a combination of a preschool and a daycare, for kids 0-6 years old. They are heavily subsidized by the government but are still run in terrible poverty without donors like SAEP to help them along!
