Time to warm up! Zama is the dude standing next to the drum. The rest of the students are part of Azaad's Youth Program, which takes youth from disadvantaged areas and teaches them practical skills such as cooking, marimba building/playing, etc. :)

Lessons at amaAmbush

This lesson took place in the "band room" at the Azaad Youth Center where amaAmbush is located. The teacher, Zama, is one of amaAmbush's marimba/drumming instructors and he led us in a variety of activities including some African dance as well as marimba!
