C in belltower
One of Sally's bell-ringing friends took me up the rickety ladder to see what it was all about. The oldest bell was first cast in 1673; most were added to the array in the 19th century. They weigh several tons each. I was impressed that the tower could hold them up.

First, saying goodbye to the Sheppersons, my hosts in Horley. Stephen, papa of the house, fell madly in love with my aunt about 30 years ago and has since performed great feats of hospitality for my family.
The other three are from St. Bart's Anglican Church, where Stephen's wife, Sally, rings bells.
