mule in the way
After we flew into Coca, we spend part of the day acquiring groceries and taking advantage of Internet access. These pickup trucks conveyed us several miles upriver on a lovely highway (financed by the oil companies), then off onto a dirt track through the forest.

The Rio Napo and Rio Payamino converge at Coca. We stayed about four miles up the Payamino, in two huts on a high bank overlooking the river. These are from the canoe rides there and back.
