The chorus member on the left (a 'city elder' in the text) is imagined as priest or ritual figure of some kind. His clothing is based on the vestments of clerics from various religions. I imagine the one on the right as a cleric, too, but more of a monk, scholar, or even simple scribe.

So... my friend looked at the props I built, tested them in front of his green screen, and then looked through my original storyboards... and he pretty much concluded that animating more detailed drawings was the way to go. These are drawings for some of the chorus
