This is the old aqueduct that takes Owens River water to Los Angeles. It's a siphon, about three hundred meters high: the camera is facing south, 'downstream', and the northern slope of this canyon is even higher. So, like, the pressure in that pipe is really high. The yellow sign says "no shooting".
